Frequently Asked Questions-DPC

Please reach us at the Contact Form below if you cannot find an answer to your question or you have a suggestion for a question.

DPC Members Monthly Allotted Visits:

Newborn to 6 months = Unlimited visits per month

Age of 6 months and older = 2 visits per month

This covers all care within the RHMC spaces ONLY - in person or via telehealth.

You'll have secure messaging access via our patient passport through Elation.

You'll have access to your clinician after hours.

Let's define these terms.

Direct Primary Care Visits: Defined as visits with the treating clinician for preventative care services and non-emergent-noninvasive health concerns either in person or via telehealth and are part of the agreed upon clinic monthly membership plan.

Non Direct Primary Care Visits: Defined as visits where the treating clinician is

providing very urgent or emergent care with or without invasive intervention, performing a procedure (either planned or unplanned) or is a stable visit outside of the allotted number of monthly membership visits. These visits are priced using the current day of service fee schedule however will be provided at a discount outlined in the Direct Primary Care Membership Contract.

Presently, that answer is No. This is a rule from the IRS Code.

Presently, the answer as we know it is No. However, there is some legal language coming forward in the HITECH Act that may change this. As there are new developments - we will update the Community!

No, our DPC Membership is NOT insurance and the cost associated with Membership ONLY pertains to Services provided within our Clinic. We do not intend for the DPC Membership to be a substitute for traditional insurance and this is forbidden for us to do per Idaho Code.

For traditional insurance, we recommend that every person assesses their unique situation and determines their individual needs. Traditional insurance covers for medications, labs, imaging, referrals, procedures and surgeries and the DPC Membership does not. Some families scale back to an HSA High Deductible Plan while others keep what they currently have.

Yes! We do not enforce "open enrollment" time periods.

GREAT question. DPC is not insurance based - which gives your Clinican more freedom in assigning costs, offering discounts, spending more time with patients and keeping the Patient at the center.

HOWEVER, DPC Membership only covers your care in the RHMC clinics. We advise you to continue to have traditional insurance for services outside of the RHMC Clinic. Some Guests will change their insurance plans to their individual needs (Ex. From PPO to HSA High Deductible) to offset or save on health care dollars.

Our Mission is to spread healthcare to Everyone and hope this option of DPC Membership helps many.

Common reasons for Recertification Delays:

1. Can't pass vision test

TIP: Go to Eye Doctor BEFORE visit if you have trouble and bring a copy of the *Visual Acuity* Assessment. Bring Glasses if you "sometimes" wear them just in case.

2. Can't pass hearing test

TIP: Visit your Audiologist BEFORE your DOT if you feel this could be an issue. Bring your hearing aids.

3. Uncontrolled Diabetes - Hypertension

TIP: Visit your Doctor before your DOT. Persons requiring Insulin need the Insulin Diabetes Form filled out by the treating provider. A1c within the past 3-6 months is needed.

4. Cardiac History - many diagnoses

TIP: See your cardiologist BEFORE your DOT for clearance. In some cases, this can be a PCP depending upon the FMCSA Regulations.

5. Neurological Conditions/Neuropathy - case by case basis based on FMCSA Regulations

TIP: If you see a Neurologist, see them BEFORE your DOT and ask them to write a letter of opinion regarding your condition and your ability for Commercial Driving

6. Conditions Requiring SPE

TIP: Bring any supporting documents to your appointment. If you are in need of an SPE assessment - Dr. Pennington is again available for this. Please contact RHMC for the best way to obtain this consultation.
